Did you know that 60% of your career success hinges on your ability to self-advocate? For most Black and underrepresented minority professionals, driving conversations with decision makers around career advancement, development and resources needs can often feel intimidating and defeating. In this workshop, you will learn how to conquer self advocacy for advancement by understanding:
- The effective approach to self advocacy using healthy entitlement.
- The self advocacy dilemma for Black and underrepresented individuals.
- How to identify and scale your professional brand by understanding your culture contributors, interests, strengths and skills.
- Data you must share with decision makers and sponsors to reach your career advancement goals (leadership, scale, results).
- How to step into your power.
Career coaching at the end of the workshop will be included. Bring all of your questions!

Did you know that there are 3 leaders on average involved in the decision-making process over your career advancement? But, how can you build a case for your advancement desires while sharing your value and asks with leaders who you have not built a relationship with yet? In “Creating a Case for Advancement with Leaders”, you will learn how to communicate your accomplishments and values in the three key areas any leader across any industry or function needs to know about you (leadership, scale and results) to approve your advancement desires. In this workshop, you will:
- Understand your value prop and brainstorm your professional narrative.
- Learn how to create an executive summary to highlight your values and accomplishments in three areas important to any leader: leadership, scale and results.
- Learn how to integrate your executive summary into performance reviews, career conversations, promotion conversations, interviews and engagements with leaders, mentors and sponsors.
Career coaching at the end of the workshop will be included. Bring all of your questions!
